I currently live in Ozone Park with my parents, grandma, and dog. My co-major is Spanish because I can speak Spanish fluently. I am currently student teaching at P.S. 184 located in Whitestone NY. The reason I have chosen teaching as a profession is because I love to see children progress throughout the years. Ever since I was a young girl I always had the intention to become a teacher. When I was in elementary school I use to play teacher in my basement with my friends. My most memorable year in elementary school was in Kindergarten because I had a wonderful teacher named Mrs. Dugan, she treated everyone equally. When I was in the sixth grade I remember I volunteered to help a Kindergarten class with reading. That is when I realized that teaching was a good profession for me.
I have a seven year old niece named Deana. She is now entering the second grade. Ever since she started schooling I have been helping her with homework such as math and reading. My first semester of student teaching was with a fourth grade class. The school that I have taught in was P.S.63. I had a wonderful experience with the fourth graders because they enjoyed me reading to them, teaching them several math lessons, and assisting them when they were uncertain.I noticed that every child has a different way of learning. Some students are visual learners others pay attention when they are more actively involved in the lesson.
I enjoy rollerblading, playing handball, going to the gym, shopping. During my pastime I like to cook. Some things I like to cook include pasta, bbq chicken, mashed potatoes, and kebabs. I am very family oriented. I take care of my niece almost every single day. I enjoy helping my niece with her homework and accompanying her to activities.
